LOCATION AND SURROUNDINGS A five star glamping location on the Surrey/Sussex border with 8 huge bell tents set in a wonderfully elevated location on high ground near Leith Hill. Surrounded by woodland and acres of beautiful countryside, Windchimes' gentle rolling land and constant breezes are a tonic for the soul with the sound of windchimes always noticeable, but never intrusive.
This is a place for reflection and deep breaths. The camp has the most commanding views over countryside, all the way to the South Downs, with private woodland and open spaces to explore and play areas for children to run free. Our glampers share the land with the deer, badgers, squirrel and rabbits who are well established, and bird life is abundant with woodpeckers, pheasants, magpie, buzzards and a new arrival this year - a young kestrel. The ponds have resident moorhens with babies in June (shssh.. be quite and observe them all with binoculars and you'll see lots of life.) The climate is also one of the best in England, with crystal clear skies for star gazing on many nights of the year.
THE TENTS
Our fabulous luxury bell tents are set in beautiful locations and all have interior carpeting. Each tent has a king sized bed and two singles with quality linens and towels, cozy duvets, pillows, and throws all provided. Your own private 'garden' or deck has a picnic table and chairs and every location has its own outdoor field-kitchen with double gas burner, (so no hour long waiting for a fire or stove!), a charcoal BBQ and cooking facilities all housed in permanent counters with cool boxes, dishes, kettle, pans and other essentials provided.
When you arrive, a welcome pack will be waiting with a few settling-in essentials (eg, marshmallows & drinking chocolate), and when the sun goes down after a long day in the fresh air, the hot, gas powered showers await you and our clean, fresh separate ladies and gents toilets provide discreet comfort and bathing bliss. After a great day outdoors, cook up a feast, have a drink, grab a cozy blanket, and relax by your own private firepit. Then as you all fall asleep, a twinkle of fairy lights will bathe your tent in a soft glow as the sun hides beyond the rolling hills.
The Roundhouse at Windchimes is now fit for a king with its new wood floor and has recently hosted rustic hen parties, birthdays and corporate events. When the rain falls the massive fireplace and covered area are always in demand. Zero carbon/green corporate away days and events are popular at this site, and the Roundhouse can accommodates forty people seated with no problem. We're now offering glamping retreats for artistic, holistic and fitness types as well, so you can glamp and develop your particular discipline while in the great outdoors.
