Set in a stunning location in the countryside of New South Wales, there are several activities on offer. The nearby Barrington River is a great spot for watching the local wildlife. Glampers will also be thrilled to see Australia’s native animal, the Platypus, playing by the river banks. Readily accessible from the cottages, the Barrington River is an ideal location as well for swimming, kayaking, and paddling canoes. Fishing enthusiasts will enjoy catching the bass and trouts with catch and release highly encouraged among guests.
The World Heritage-listed Barrington Tops National Park is also located nearby. This unique park at Barrington is a part sub-alpine woodland plateau and part tropical rainforest serving as home to over 200 bird species, owls, grey kangaroos, and echidnas. This national park also houses the Devil Ark, the Tasmanian Devil conservation breeding program aimed to save the species from extinction. There is also the Barrington Tops State Forest where the Manning River can be found. This cool highland forest is a popular picnic spot, as well as a destination for freshwater fishing. The hillside area of these mountains was also once popular for gold mining.
Every second Saturday of the month, there is a farmers’ market at the Billabong Park, offering local crafts and produce. There is the Gloucester Farmers’ Market as well enabling the local farmers to sell their produce directly to the community.
