January to April is the wet season and this time of the year are the hot sunny days with periods of warm tropical rain. The daily sunshine hours are high because the rain predominantly falls at night. This is a spectacular time of year. The tropical vegetation is abundant, and the forests are filled with clear streams and many waterfalls. The prevailing sea breezes at this time are from the north.
May to December is the dry season and the rain that falls at this time is less intense than the tropical downpours of the wet season. The temperatures and humidity are a little lower. From April to September, the prevailing breezes are the southeasterly trade winds.
January, February, and March are an exciting time of the year and they are the hottest time of the year. Spectacular monsoon clouds build up in the late afternoons and 16.5 inches falls during the month; however, this area has an average of seven sunshine hours every day. This is a beautiful time of the year to experience the Great Barrier Reef, as the seas can be calm, warm, deep blue, and clear for days on end. The tropical rainforests are at their very best at this time of year, and many colorful migratory birds visit the area at this time. Guests can also expect to see a great variety of brilliant butterflies and tropical blooms in our gardens. The colors of nature are vivid and intense, reflecting the tropical light.
The warm, calm, clear seas in the months between November and May signal the time when box jellyfish can be found in the sea along coastal beaches. Glampers will be advised on arrival where it is safe to swim, as the property does have a “Stinger Swimming Enclosure” on the beach, which is patrolled by surf lifesavers. Box jellyfish are not found out on the Barrier Reef where the fish and coral viewing is at its very best.
The coldest month of the year is July when the maximum temperature is 77 Fahrenheit (25 Celsius).
September to December is often a period of very calm seas, hot sunny days and occasional afternoon thunderstorms. Many tropical trees and vines are in full bloom and the gardens are a riot of color.
