The surrounding rainforests are home to various species of birds and wildlife, including spotted catbirds, Victoria's riflebirds, and Lewin's honeyeaters to name a few. In the nocturnal wildlife viewing platform, guests can spot sugar gliders, striped possums, uromys, bandicoots, melomys, and antechinus.
For guests who want to enjoy a day trip away from the forest, Malanda Dairy Centre provides an interesting look at the Atherton Tablelands' dairy industry, and the Majestic Theatre is a heritage listed site operating on weekends. Both are within a 15-minute drive and are close to the Yungburra Markets held on the fourth Saturday of each month, offering endless antiques and unique trinkets.
