QLD rentals: holiday home for families in Maleny, Queensland
This family-friendly vacation rental is located in Maleny, Queensland, and can accommodate 12 guests for a holiday to the scenic countryside of the Sunshine Coast. Featuring a lagoon-like swimming pool and a large, secluded property surrounded by ponds and filled with gardens, trees, and wildlife, the rental provides plenty of space in which guests can relax and reconnect to the great outdoors, while at the same time being conveniently close to a number of natural areas.
The holiday rental has four bedrooms and three full bathrooms. In the first bedroom, guests will find a king-size bed, a walk-in wardrobe area, double doors that open onto the property's patio, and an ensuite bathroom with a shower, a vanity, and a toilet. There is also enough space in this bedroom to fit a solid single bed, a child-size fold-up bed, or a portable cot, which are available upon request for an additional fee.
The second bedroom features a queen-size bed, a wardrobe area, double doors opening onto the property's rear garden, easy access to and from an adjacent covered parking space, and another ensuite bathroom with a shower, a vanity, and a toilet. This bedroom also has space for a child-size fold-up bed, a portable cot, or a solid single bed—the latter being a viable option provided that guests do not mind a snug fit.
The third bedroom is furnished with a queen-size bed and a full-size pull-out sofa bed, while the fourth bedroom contains yet another queen-size bed. Both of these bedrooms have space for an additional child-size fold-up bed or a portable cot, and they share a bathroom featuring double sinks and a spacious shower.
The holiday rental's foyer can also be transformed into a semi-private sleeping space upon request. If guests elect for this option, the front door of the rental will be locked to allow it to serve as a wall, and screens will be set up for extra privacy. Guests can then enter and exit the rental through the common area's French doors opening onto the pool deck. The foyer can accommodate two child-size fold-up beds or even two solid single beds if they are set side-by-side.
There is also a sofa bed in the television lounge of the open-plan common area, which can provide a non-private sleeping space that is suitable for one adult or a couple of children. Here, guests will also find a flat-screen television with a DVD player and an HDMI port. The television lounge is adjacent to one of the two open sides of the kitchen. On the other open side, guests will find a dining area with a table that seats eight and a sitting area with a loveseat and a pair of sofa chairs. The whole common area is backdropped by an entire wall full of floor-to-ceiling windows and French doors, providing ample natural light and a sense of openness in relation to the pool deck, gardens, and surrounding foliage outside.
The fully-equipped kitchen comes with a large side-by-side refrigerator/freezer with an ice maker, an oven, a stove, a microwave, a dishwasher, a toaster, and equipment for making tea and coffee, along with plenty of counter and cabinet space for preparing meals and storing food.
Other amenities include Wi-Fi, a washer and dryer, a wood-burning stove, complimentary tea and coffee, ironing equipment, a hairdryer, plenty of free parking, a pedestal fan in each bedroom, and a ceiling fan between the sitting area and the dining area. Luxurious bedding and towels are provided, including sheets, pillows, blankets, doonas (i.e., duvets, for non-Australian guests), bath towels, pool towels, hand towels, face towels, and tea towels.
Outside, guests will find 3.5 hectares (8.64 acres) of property containing a lagoon-like swimming pool surrounded by a pool deck, gardens, an abundance of trees, a barbecue grill, and an outdoor entertainment area with tables, chairs, a fridge, and views of the garden and the pool.

Here, they will also find another swimming hole beneath a waterfall and more birdwatching opportunities amid a subtropical rainforest, eucalypt forests, and stands of piccabeen palms and hoop pines.
Another option for hiking is Dularcha National Park, where guests will find three trails that can also be used for mountain biking and horseback riding. The park also provides yet another prime spot for birdwatching, with 255 species having been documented to date.
