This tiny house features several unconventional appliances for an off-the-grid experience. Many of these appliances require special attention for safety and comfort. The hosts are happy to show all guests how to properly use each household feature. For safety reasons, however, this house is not suitable for children under the age of 13.
Guests should be aware of the following features:
There is a ladder to the sleeping loft. Guests should have a level of physical fitness and agility necessary to climb ladders.
There is a deep, Japanese style bathtub, so guests should have a level of agility necessary to step in an out of the tub safely.
The hot water in the bathroom is gravity-fed, meaning there is low water pressure. The hot water is a passive solar design; it is heated by the sun in summer and by the wood heater in winter. Therefore, temperatures may vary depending on factors such as sunlight and use of the wood-burning fire.
The wood heater requires special knowledge to use. The hosts are happy to make and maintain the fire for guests upon request during their stay.
The toilet is a modern composting design. The hosts will instruct all guests on proper use.
The stove and oven in the kitchen area use methylated spirits. The flame is silent and requires careful attention when turning it on and off.
