Location + Surroundings
39 miles off the coast of the English-speaking Belize, the cabana resort rests on an underwater world of 185 miles of the Belize Barrier reef System, the largest stretch of coral in the Western Hemisphere. It encompasses pinnacles, wall drop-offs, spur and groove formations and swim-throughs. Sitting atop two parallel submarine ridges, 140 or more miles of drop-off walls in 3 enormous atolls are comprised of beautiful coral and sponge growths. The reefs are home to over 100 different types of coral and 500 species of fish. This Marine Nature Reserve is a diver's or snorkeler's paradise. The island is privately owned, making it a homey, exclusive vacation spot for the traveling fisherman, diver or sunbather. Filled with hybrid palm trees and lush vegetation, there is plenty to explore and do. Cool Caribbean breezes brush the island, but expect fantastic, sunny weather year-round. Simply relax in the pristine, turquoise waters of the Caribbean or participate in an underwater adventure on a truly one-of-kind island. Read More
- Scuba diving
Apart from relaxing in your beach cabana or along the sandy shores of the Caribbean, the activities are the heart of the experience on the island. Choose from a vacation focused on:
Scuba Diving - The Belize Barrier Reef together with the 3 coral atolls off the tiny island, make scuba diving one of the best activities to choose from. Whether experienced or not, you can explore the pristine waters of the sea, the numerous species of fish and participate in wall drift dives that show the wonders of sand channels adorned with hard and soft coral and massive multi-colored sponges.
Fishing - Start the day early at 4:30am, grab a coffee and head to the lagoon to fish for specific species, usually tarpon. After breakfast, search for bonefish in shallow shores. A midday lunch and relax time lead to a fading sun and a rising tide, and fishing for permit fish will round out the day. Deep sea fishing can also be arranged. Barracuda, groupers, big mackerel, sailfish, tuna, wahoos, and mahi mahi are the targets!
Diving - with Whale Sharks - One of the most unique activities is swimming with this massive, slow-moving filter feeding shark. As the largest fish in the sea, this gentle giant has no predators and is generally a solitary traveler. You can swim along with these magnificent fish without having to worry! The shark visits the area usually during the full moon months of March, April, May and June.
