Glamping Hub's Guide to Overcoming the Post-Coachella Blues

By Isabelle Jefferies

alt

Following a debate that has spanned several festival seasons, (unofficial) sources have finally confirmed that the post-Coachella blues do pose an actual threat to festivalgoers. Friends and families have been advised to look out for symptoms that include refusing to leave the house without wearing a flower crown and the inability to sleep in an actual bed.

While specialists rush to come up with advice for sufferers, Glamping Hub is here to help out however we can. Whether you're looking to avoid withdrawal symptoms by continuing to adopt the festival lifestyle or you'd like to retreat and recover for a little while, we've got you covered. With countless tents, tipis, and yurts on offer, our Insta-worthy properties are the perfect choice to continue to channel your inner Vanessa Hudgens (aka Queen of Coachella).

alt

Rest assured that—rather than just for two weekends of the year—denim shorts, statement jewelry, and floral headwear are always welcomed by us. The best part? No waiting for April to enjoy them—these rentals offer glamping all year long and are ready to accommodate you whenever the blues are weighing you down.

Read on for advice on getting yourself out of your Coachella-induced funk, and the best spots to make it happen.

1. Keep busy.

Learning a new skill is the perfect way to keep yourself distracted from the sad reality that yet another festival season has come to an end. Among other things, a glamping getaway offers the chance to enjoy kayaking, zip-lining, and horseback riding.

One of our personal favorites is this gorgeous, bohemian-style bell tent. Not only is it ideally situated right on the coast in New South Wales (proof that festival fans don't have to stick to California for their getaways), the hosts provide guests with a boat to use for exploring. A day spent sailing will definitely keep your mind occupied!

alt

alt

2. Create a playlist.

Considering that the general consensus is that this was Coachella's best year ever, it would be totally understandable to want to relive it. Spotify offers a wide range of playlists to keep you satisfied until next year, and this secluded safari tent makes the perfect setting to blast them out. Completely secluded in Zion National Park, Utah, glampers definitely won't need to worry about noise complaints from the neighbors while playing Kendrick on repeat.

alt

3. Go on a health kick.

Following two full weekends of indulgence, a detox is a great way to keep yourself feeling good post-festival season. While glamping, guests will be able to enjoy a diet of delicious fresh produce that's definitely a little fancier than a standard festival burger van. Think free range eggs, homemade jams, and organic fruit and veg. Obviously, no judgment from us if guests decide to slip back into their Coachella ways to see out the day with a delicious craft beverage or cocktail.

alt

4. Reminisce.

Here at Glamping Hub, we are big believers in sharing moments and not things. More than anything, festivals are famous for being a chance to create unforgettable memories, and Glamping Hub is here to provide the perfect spots for when you're feeling nostalgic. Take this romantic yurt rental located to the east of Rome, in one of the greenest regions of Europe. Not only will the gorgeous panoramic views look just as impressive on your Instagram as that Coachella snap, but the rental's rooftop terrace definitely wouldn't make the worst spot to reminisce about the 2017 festival season.

alt

alt

5. Lean on your loved ones.

Support from your friends is absolutely crucial to shake off the post-Coachella blues. At this property in Texas, there are five amazing tipis that can accommodate a group of 30 in total. The term 'fully furnished' is not taken lightly—guests can expect a private kitchen and bathroom. There is even a hot tub where you can all reflect and begin counting down the days to Coachella 2018.

alt

alt

P.S. Not just for glampers that are missing Coachella, a Glamping Hub getaway is the perfect option for those that missed out on one of the biggest events of the festival calendar and have always dreamed of going. Check out more Coachella-esque accommodations here.

A Glamping Trip to California Wine Country

By Isabelle Jefferies

California is definitely up there as one of our favorite go-to glamping spots, but—considering it stretches for nearly 900 miles—having to choose between the different regions and cities can seem a little overwhelming. Let Glamping Hub simplify this for you by highlighting the countless reasons Wine Country needs to be added to your Californian bucket list.

Nestled in the heart of Northern California, the regions of Napa, Sonoma, and Mendocino are home to over 600 wineries. While it's no secret that this part of the world is capable of some premium grape-growing, it is less known that Wine Country is also home to some of the most beautiful and luxurious glamping accommodations.

alt

Take, for example, this breathtaking tree house in Santa Rosa, which boasts a Jacuzzi on its private deck. The rugged Wine Country terrain promises some seriously beautiful views, and, as far as we're concerned, this might just be the most perfect spot to soak them in.

alt

Glampers who would prefer to experience Wine Country a little closer to the ground are sure to love these gorgeous tents and these safari tents. They are beautifully furnished and ideal for a romantic glamping getaway. Their luxurious features ensure that a stay here will totally redefine the phrase "a night under the stars."

alt

alt

For families wanting to head to this area, we love this dome. It's everything glamping should be—luxurious, unique, and right in the heart of nature. What's more? Guests will truly want for nothing during their stay since the rental boasts air conditioning, a wood-burning pellet stove, and even a waffle maker. Top tip: Leave the kids at home playing in the hammock or the garden while you head out to explore the wineries.

alt

What better way to relax after a busy day exploring the Wine Country hiking trails than with a soak in an outdoor tub? This rustic yurt is set on five acres of private woodland and its secluded setting is perfect for those looking for a little peace and quiet. The best part? Sacramento is easily accessible from the property for when guests fancy exploring its wide selection of cultural sights.

Road Trip on the Great Ocean Road

By Isabelle Jefferies

There is something seriously satisfying about the thought of the envy on people’s faces when you tell them you’re hitting up the Great Ocean Road for a glamping adventure. It is the road trip of all road trips—insane surfing beaches, a beautiful sunrise somewhere new each morning, and unforgettable nights spent in a unique glamping rental.

Constructed in the early 1900s, the Great Ocean Road spans an amazing 243 kilometers between the cities of Torquay and Allansford. It is the only main road along the Victorian coastline, which is perfect for us glampers since it means we can avoid tedious map reading and focus on more important things (e.g. enjoying the views and picking the best spot for lunch). With all this in mind, Glamping Hub has put together some ideas for you to get planning your road trip and—lucky for you—we have the perfect rentals to complement your busy day spent cruising and exploring.

As a general rule of thumb, we think three days for the road trip is enough to see everything. Of course, the views can be enjoyed from your car to cut it shorter, but we’re convinced that the best way to experience this part of the world is to take things slow and make plenty of stops.

This is the perfect trip to tick a ton of things off your bucket list—whether that means dangling your toes off the edge of a vertical cliff top, trekking through rainforests, or koala-spotting in the street. There really is no limit to the adventures waiting to be had here.

It’s difficult for us to recommend exactly where to stop during the road trip since literally every town you will pass through has so much to offer. However, we’ve picked out a few of our personal highlights of the journey and included some amazing rentals waiting to accommodate you along the way.

alt

The gorgeous seaside town of Torquay is widely known as the official starting point of the Great Ocean Road. It is amazing for surfing, and Bell’s Beach is a definite must-see before you even hit the road. 30 minutes inland, this property is the perfect base for glampers who fancy hanging around in the area a little longer to take advantage of all that there is to see.

alt

From this point, get ready to enjoy some amazing views. Make sure to stop off in the towns of Anglesea and Lorne which offer the chance to explore both national parks and gorgeous beaches. This luxury cabin is located in Kennett River and is ideal for an overnight stay before carrying on down to Apollo Bay.

Upon reaching Apollo Bay, follow the Great Ocean Road into the lush Great Otway National Park. This is a fab place to get close to some native wildlife, especially in the conservation center located just 25 kilometers away. It is also definitely worth heading inland a few kilometers to enjoy a treetop walk with Otway Fly Treetop Adventures. Here glampers can also discover Australia’s oldest lighthouse offering incredible vistas of how far you will have come.

About an hour’s drive from this point will lead you to Port Campbell and its famous Twelve Apostles. This is an amazing structure of 12 grand rock stacks that rise up from the ocean close together. It is a magnificent sight that is sure to be a high point of the trip so allocate lots of time for this one! This rental is the perfect base for an overnight stay.

alt

When you’ve finally had your fill, join the Great Ocean Road once more and head to Warrnambool. As the maritime capital, there is a huge amount of history and culture to absorb because cooling off at Logan's Beach. This is also a great chance to enjoy some whale watching.

The next name on the map is Tower Hill State Park, on the way to Port Fairy. Here glampers can enjoy spotting a range of wildlife including emus and kangaroos while heading through lake-filled craters of an extinct volcano. A little further on, the charming village Port Fairy is famous for fishing and has a lovely, romantic vibe. The river is perfect for a stroll or spend some time exploring the beaches and walking trails along the coast.

This stop officially marks the end of the Great Ocean Road. From here, retrace your steps back home. Make sure to spend some time at the parts you missed and take even more photos at your favorite spots!

P.S. Rumor has it the towns along the Great Ocean Road offer some of the best fish and chips in the world. Glamping Hub is setting you the task of trying as many as you can during your trip—let us know where to find the best!

No Back to School Blues—Romantic Getaways for Parents

By Isabelle Jefferies

Summer break is a truly lovely thing—late breakfasts during lazy mornings that are free from the stress of packed lunches and school uniforms; no chasing the little ones to try and get them up and dressed; and the chance to actually enjoy your morning coffee rather than downing it on the way to the car.

alt

Having the kids around 24 hours a day for ten whole weeks over summer makes daily life a lot more exciting, and it seems so cruel that it’s already time to start thinking about new stationary and school runs. No matter how old your mini-glampers are, we totally understand that the thought of sending them back into the real world is just a little bit heartbreaking.

Thankfully, we have just what you need to avoid the back-to-school funk. How does a luxury getaway in a beautiful and tranquil spot sound?

Not that you should need convincing but, as hard-working parents, you really do deserve the chance to relax and unwind. Dare we say...it’s absolutely essential in order to leave you feeling fresh and ready for another year of early starts and hurrying the kids out the door? Have a look at some of our favorite breaks for couples below, and remember—you deserve it!

alt

Lets start off with this amazing property offering yurts in a secluded rural spot in Tuscany. It really is hard to top Italy in terms of romantic destinations. What’s not to love about the thought of sharing gelato after a cute day spent exploring the traditional surroundings hand-in-hand?

Sticking with the theme of Europe, a stay at this stunning luxury cabin will definitely leave you both feeling relaxed and rejuvenated ready for another school year. Nestled in the heart of Andalusia, we promise that the combination of breathtaking ocean views, private Jacuzzis, and deluxe king-size beds will be the answer to all your wildest glamping dreams.

alt

For parents that want to stick a little closer to home, the U.S. offers some seriously romantic glamping spots. We love this eco-friendly tree house in North Carolina. Afternoons spent on the elevated deck without a worry in the world sound pretty perfect to us!

How does a spot of sunrise yoga at this property in Oregon to get you back in the routine of those early starts sound? Delicious, gourmet meals are provided each day to give you a break from the cooking, and you can make full use of the spa service available on-site to get you nice and relaxed before heading back to reality.

alt

Alternatively, how about heading further afield to really feel away from it all? Australia is one of the most beautiful places to spend a glamping break, and the relaxing way of life is the perfect way to ease yourselves back into the school routine. This property is equipped with everything you will need to relax in style, from luxury Egyptian cotton linens to romantic LED lighting.

alt

If Western Australia is more appealing, try this site that is the perfect base for spending hours on pristine beaches before heading home to a luxury rental for a night under the stars.

alt

Fiji is seriously underrated as a glamping destination. This property offers the chance to be fully immersed in a luxury private haven in the heart of natural and pristine rainforest that overlooks a bay of crystal clear water with fringing coral reef. What’s not to love?

Wherever you decide to head to beat the back to school blues, remember that you're actually benefiting the kids in the long term. Stress-parents make for a stress-free school run—and we'd be over the moon to make that happen for you.

A vacation in Europe is definitely bucket list material. Who hasn’t dreamed of catching rays on a beautiful Andalusian beach? Or perhaps dining al fresco with your other half over a shared bowl of real Italian pasta is more your thing.

No matter what your European travel fantasy, we are big believers that glampers should not just dream about visiting these places, but actually do it! The best part is it really doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg.

With hundreds of flights heading to Europe each day, there’s never been a better time to jet off to this breathtaking part of the world. Grab your passport and your loved ones, and take your pick of one these amazing European destinations. Affordable and luxurious? You can thanks us later.

alt

To kick things off, let's appreciate the perfect mix of sandy beaches and romantic countryside that can only be found in the south of Spain. We love this quaint cottage nestled in its own secluded haven in Granada. Fully furnished and with its own private pool, we won't judge you if you don't ever leave the accommodation. However, if you do decide to do some exploring, rest assured there is a huge range of gorgeous sites waiting to be discovered.

alt

It's hard not to automatically think of London when considering a vacation to the U.K., but we think it's time to change that. The rest of the U.K. has really upped its glamping game.

Take Scotland, for example. Truly rural and enveloped in endless miles of natural beauty, there really couldn't be a more perfect place to enjoy a getaway with the whole family. We particularly like this tipi rental and these beachfront eco-pods. Heading away from the capital also guarantees a cheaper getaway—bonus!

alt

We don't believe that glampers should have to pay extra to head somewhere more exotic. Lucky for us, there are affordable glamping properties located all around the world. While you may have known that Portugal is incredibly beautiful, it might come as a shock that it doesn't cost the earth to visit either! Check out this site in Evaramonte that offers luxurious yurt accommodations from just $40 a night.

alt

Last up, Italy! There's a reason that gelato is a world-famous sweet treat. No matter how convincing companies around the world try to reassure us that they really do sell genuine, homemade Italian gelato, the truth is that it simply cannot be found outside of Italy.

Never tried it? Enjoy a glamping break at these gorgeous rentals here or here, and see what all the fuss is about.

P.S. It's not just the conventional spots in Europe that are worth a visit. For those who fancy visiting somewhere a little different, Denmark has a serious
amount of culture to offer. Glamping at this wallet-friendly property promises to be a truly unique and unforgettable experience for the whole family.

Host Your Own Glamping Olympics 2016

By Isabelle Jefferies

Glampers must have noticed the amazing buzz in the air that only seems to come around every four years. We're referring, of course, to the hype surrounding the Olympics! It’s always a really exciting few weeks, and with the opening ceremony and first events kicking off on August 5, there’s not much time left to wait.

Whether your little ones are desperate to prove that they can give Usain Bolt a run for his money or you need to get those sleepy teenagers up and out of bed, Glamping Hub is here to help you get the whole family involved in the Olympic action during your vacation this summer.

alt

We’re convinced that getting everyone together to bring out a bit of competitive spirit during your vacation will be great fun. To help out, we’ve put together the best events to include that will both challenge and thrill glampers of all ages and abilities. The perfect way to round up the whole gang, you will definitely want to allocate a day or two of your summer 2016 glamping vacation to hosting your very own Olympics!

The Glamping Olympics Itinerary

To get things going, and in keeping with Olympic tradition, an opening ceremony is the only way to start your games. A couple of packs of colorful balloons won’t take up much room in your suitcase and will allow you to set up a fun stage area where each team can perform something that they've prepared. This can be a couple of days, if you’re feeling generous, or just a few hours, if you want to keep athletes on their toes!

Obviously, each team will need their own mascot to bring them luck. Again, as much or as little time can be spent on these, but how about making it a little more challenging by requesting that the mascots represent a certain aspect of the local community? With the focus of glamping being a retreat deep in the heart of nature, a rural theme or something having to be made completely out of natural materials is a great way to mix it up!

alt

When it comes to the actual events, glampers can mix and match and be as inventive as they like. We’ve come up with a few that we promise will keep glampers of all ages entertained for hours.

Plate discus is a fun alternative to the traditional discus sport, which usually requires throwing a heavy metal disc as far as possible. It turns out that paper or plastic plates work just as well and are much less worrying to hand over to your five-year-old. Aim high and see if you can beat the Olympic record of 74.08 meters!

Another throwing event that any Olympics simply can’t take place without is the javelin. For a fun glamping version, each athlete can try their hand at throwing a plastic straw the furthest distance possible. The rules are that nothing can be put in the straw, and it must not get damaged.

alt

Family-Friendly Farmstay in English Countryside near Chesil Beach

Not actually an Olympic sport (although it’s so entertaining we vote it should be), an egg toss is the perfect way to get everyone laughing. Glampers should stand in pairs a small distance apart and throw a raw egg between them. Sounds easy? The distance has to increase with each throw. The pair who can throw over the longest distance without the egg breaking wins.

Football and volleyball are great events to include, too, because the whole team can play at once. If glampers have more than two teams, they can even set up their own mini-tournament. A game of volleyball is even more fun on the beach, with the sand softening the blow of all those dives. We think that this amazing villa and this luxury rental are the perfect properties to enjoy a fun game of Olympic beach volleyball.

alt

Aquatics are another very important part of the Olympics. Swimming races are perfect, because glampers can get competitive while avoiding the summer heat. Change the distance depending on the abilities of the athletes competing. These glamping sites both have pools that are the perfect place to race—and cool off after the competition! Check them out here and here.

The ultimate track event to finish with is a relay, since the whole team can get involved. However, seeing as this is a very special glamping Olympics, we need to spice things up a bit. Remember those balloons you brought with you for the opening ceremony? Make competitors hold them between their knees while they run and pass that instead of a baton—both resourceful and hilarious!

P.S. For glampers looking to enjoy the Olympics from the heart of the action, check out these glamping properties in Brazil that offer endless possibilities for adventure and the perfect spot to watch the action live on TV!

These luxury stilted bungalows are located right on the coast. Glampers will find themselves six hours outside of Rio, ideal for soaking up the atmosphere while being able to avoid the busy city.
