Staff Picks: Nadia's Favorites

By Nadia Yasmine

As a lifelong lover of the great outdoors, I needed very little encouragement to get behind the glamping philosophy, and I was sold long before I started working at Glamping Hub. Being raised in the English countryside, camping trips and summer festivals were a regular pastime. However, in case you haven’t heard, the U.K. is not always blessed with the most glorious weather. “Give up" and “go back inside,” I hear you say? No chance! We bought bell tents.

In a bell tent, you have all the space of a small living room in which to relax and socialize—big enough for a double bed and with room to spare—not just your average tent! All your friends gathered to wait out the rain, and then, when it stops, all you have to do is unzip the porch and there you are, in a green field, surrounded by nature. When life gives you intermittent rain showers, go glamping! That’s what they say, isn’t it?

Beautiful Bell Tent in Pembrokeshire, Wales

Rediscover camping in a bell tent!

Pick number one is this fully-furnished bell tent in Pembrokeshire, Wales. No matter the weather, you can enjoy the sounds and smells of nature from this cozy, tented accommodation. Inside, you'll find everything you would need for the perfect relaxing getaway at just a stone’s throw from the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. You will also find you'll get very good at balancing on one foot while you master the delicate art of removing muddy shoes before coming inside. This isn’t just a vacation, you know—these are life skills!

Luxury Tiny House in New Zealand

Dream big in New Zealand from this tiny house rental.

Fast forward a couple of years, and I’m sitting at my desk in the Glamping Hub office with my mind lost in a world of wanderlust. While perusing images of stunning accommodations in far-flung parts of the world I'd love to visit (this is work, I promise), I stumbled across this beautiful glass house in New Zealand.

Tiny houses are my new favorite thing, by the way. Everything about them is ingeniously designed and considered, something that I find endlessly satisfying, and they are eco-friendly, too! Dream big, sleep small, and look up to the stars!

Tree House near Chattanooga, Georgia

Tree houses aren't just for kids—see for yourself!

This tree house I present to you with mixed emotions, because this is hands-down nicer than my apartment and a whole lot cooler. (Life goals: Must live in a cool tree house one day…). Who wouldn’t love to go for a weekend getaway in this amazing accommodation in Chattanooga, Georgia? Now, I have never been to the U.S.A., but when I do, staying here is at the top of my to-do-list. New York City might never sleep, but I’m going to...in this amazing tree house!

Luxury, Romantic Tree House in Walhalla, South Carolina

Plan your trip to South Carolina, but make sure it includes a stay here.

Call me predictable—it’s another tree house! But, come on, look at that window! The crystal-clear vistas of these stunning woodlands in South Carolina from a beautiful treetop vantage point makes me wonder if I should be antiquing all my furniture in a rustic-modern style and elevating it a good three meters up in the air. (On second thought, that does seem like quite a lot of effort) Maybe I’ll just hit the road instead! You can keep your pancakes, Kerouac; I’m doing a tree house tour of the U.S.A.!

Luxury Glamping Pod Under the Northern Lights in Finnish Lapland

Take a walk on the wild side and dream of the Northern Lights in a luxury dome!

Speaking of American cult travelers, this final accommodation takes us "Into the Wild", but instead of heading up to Alaska, this accommodation can be found in Finland. I love the idea of a cozy night’s sleep in a luxury dome, looking out over the Northern Lights! These beautiful domes become part of the landscape, perched amongst the trees on a lake's edge in the heart of Finnish Lapland. Since reading Philip Pullman's "Northern Lights" as a child, seeing them in real life has been a firm constant on my bucket list and a beautiful testament to the way in which nature can captivate the imagination.

We all know that camping is not for everyone, but glamping certainly is. Wherever the destination, nature is not only for the cavalier, backpack-wearing, adventurous types. Glamping opens the door to everyone, even the bookish daydreamers!

Our Top 5 Tree Houses in the U.S.

By Nadia Yasmine

We know that there is no accommodation more sought after than a good, old-fashioned tree house, and at Glamping Hub, we’re certainly spoiled for choice. We see the best of the best on a daily basis, so narrowing it down to just five was a tall order.

High up in the tree tops, these accommodations reignite childhood playfulness, evoke memories of bedtime stories, and days out playing in the woods. Long before iPads and video games, tree houses were things of make-believe and adventure—Peter Pan, Swallows and Amazons, a trip into Wonderland, and all those other childhood stories that we all think we are a bit too old to reenact.

We live by the mantra that a tree house is not just for kids, and we think that you should, too. Get your backpacks ready and picnics packed...we’re going on an adventure!
