Host Spotlight: Kutira

By Jackie Dreyer

Editor's note: Each month, we'd like to introduce you to one of our wonderful Glamping Hub hosts and what inspired them to create a glamping site. This month, we have Kutira, who manages an eco-retreat on the Island of Maui in Hawaii.

1. When was the first time you heard the term glamping?

A few years ago.

2. What inspired you to have your own glamping site?

We are a fully self-sustainable, eco-friendly community, and our mission is to help people reconnect with nature and enjoy the benefits of a more natural way of living.

3. If you could describe your property or the glamping experience you offer in three words, what would they be?

Rejuvenating, reinvigorating, and relaxing.

4. Why would you recommend people to go glamping?

It is the most natural way to connect with the land, get grounded, and find relaxation in an environmentally-friendly place, where it is easier to unwind, restore, and recharge the energy.

5. What should people expect when they come to your glamping site?

A sustainable paradise located where the sun is rising. A place “where your vacation becomes a transformation!” Our property is the ideal destination no matter whether you're seeking sanctuary, writing the next chapter of your life, on your honeymoon, or simply taking a vacation.

6. What makes your property unique?

Come explore elegant green living at Maui's magical, premiere eco-retreat. Here, guests will enjoy being directly next to the ocean, beautiful hiking trails, waterfall lagoons, a romantic setting, sunrise views, yoga and meditation classes, and only 15 minutes from town.

7. What’s your favorite part about owning a glamping property?

Seeing the full transformation that our guests go through from the beginning of their stay with us until the end of their journey.

8. What makes your property eco-friendly?

We operate on solar energy from panels installed on our buildings, our water is pumped directly from our own well and rain catchment system, and we live sustainably and self-sufficiently from the land through organic farming.

At our property, you can enjoy the benefits of a setting that is free from electromagnetic waves, such as Wi-Fi (except in the main house, where guests can check their emails, etc).

All of our buildings are ecologically built. Our bamboo structures and temples are both unique and historic. We are the first permitted bamboo structure in the entire United States.
