There are numerous trails near starting from the cabins or the nearby Rock Lake. Trails range from easy to difficult to fit guests' desires and abilities. During the hike, guests will be able to spot different wildflowers, fossils, birds, native wildlife and the stunning surrounding mountains ranges and valleys. Hikes can take up to eight hours. The hosts will frequently take guests up to the Rock Lake Viewpoint after the evening meal for the best opportunity to view wildlife without disturbing them.

Guests are welcome to use the canoe on site and head to Rock Lake or the chain of lakes in Switzer Park. The hosts will provide transportation to and from the lakes.

Horseback Riding:
Horseback riding can be arranged on a hourly, half-day or full day excursion with specialty outfitters closer to Hinton. Multi-day horseback pack trips, either with tent camping in Willmore Wilderness or rustic cabin accommodation along the front ranges of the Rockies, can also be arranged. All of these trips are fully guided, catered and outfitted.

Take the Rocky Mountains Birdwatching and stroll down to a gravel bar on Munn Creek accompanied by a guide. Guests can spot warblers, sparrows, finches, jays and juncos singing in the trees. On Rock Lake, they can watch waterfowl, eagles, hawks, and the ever-present songbirds.

Whitewater rafting:
A trusted whitewater rafting company offers floating trips on the Smoky River, a half-day trip on the Sulphur River or a full-day trip on the Sulphur River/Sheep Creek combo. June to mid-July are the best time for thrilling whitewater rafting adventures.

Crosscountry skiing and snowshoeing:
The best snow conditions usually occur in February and March, although one can typically go skiing and 'shoeing by the end of November. Once the snow is ski-able, the hosts will groom and track-set between 30 and 50 km of trail. After a fresh snowfall, prints left by active timber wolves, cougars, martens, wolverines, elk, deer or moose are readily apparent. Bring a camera and capture frost glistening on the trees, the branches of willows and poplar bending under the heavy snow or the sky bursting into flames as the winter sun turns the horizon bright orange. The hosts provide ski equipment such as skis, boots, poles and snowshoes at no additional charge.
