Location + Surroundings
This cottage is located in Lion's Head on the Bruce Peninsula of Ontario, a slender stretch of nature-filled land that juts out between Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. It is situated on a two-acre plot of forested property that provides guests with plenty of privacy, with no other cottages in sight. The property provides easy access to Barrow's Bay and Little Lake, which is only a 300-meter walk away. At the lake and the bay, guests will find a cobblestone beach and public boat access.
The peninsula is a nature lover's dream come true; it is home to six nature reserves, the Bruce Peninsula Bird Observatory, Fathom Five National Marine Park, the Bruce Trail (which runs right by the site), and Bruce Peninsula National Park. At the latter, guests will find thousand-year-old cedars that are among the oldest trees in all of eastern North America.
With so many protected habitats, the area abounds with wildlife as well, including barred owls, black bears, foxes, massasauga rattlesnakes, and northern flying squirrels. It is also a major stopping point for migrating birds, including bald eagles. Guests will find plentiful flora here as well, including 44 species of orchids.
While secluded, the site is only about six minutes from the town of Lion's Head, where guests will find shops, restaurants, a sandy beach, and a public marina. The town is right on Barrow's Bay, where limestone cliffs overlook turquoise, Caribbean-esque water. The cliffs are popular for climbing and they provide a scenic backdrop for kayaking and canoeing as well.
The site is about three and a half hours from Toronto, where the nearest international airport is located. Read More

More opportunities for paddling can be found at Fathom Five National Marine Park, where guests can also go scuba diving.
Guests can go cycling on the country roads of the peninsula and they can go mountain biking at Mountain Bike Adventure Park and the Lindsay Tract Trails. At Black Creek Park, guests will find a sandy beach to enjoy.
