This charming glamping pod in Golden Lake is ideal for two guests to enjoy a fabulous getaway in Ontario. The site boasts a view of Bonnechere Valley Hills and is only a 10-minute hike to the escarpment lookout of Golden Lake, as well as only a 20-minute hike to the supplied canoe on a small lake. Inside the cozy pod, glampers will have one comfy queen-size bed.(bedding not provided) The private outhouse is just a few steps away and there is also a seasonal solar shower.

Glampers will love the indoor electric fireplace where they can snuggle up after a day spent exploring the gorgeous hiking trails just outside their door. In summer they can relax in bed and enjoy the cold flame setting. The windows of the pod also flood the area with natural light during the day and offer romantic views of the stars at night.

Outside, guests will have a picnic table, a fire pit, a screened outdoor bar, and a BBQ where they can cook up some treats while surrounded by the peaceful sights and sounds of nature.

Although the retreat is located in a remote area, guests will enjoy excellent cell phone coverage thanks to a cell tower that has been built on the property.

Guests can purchase extra blankets or a "Couples Package" or bring their own bedding. Other supplies and equipment for enjoying the great outdoors include a first-aid kit and see-through umbrellas.

Around the cabin site, guests will have access to a picnic area and a private fire pit as well as 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) of marked multi-use trails, one of which leads down to a quiet forest lake. Guests will also have access to a canoe with life jackets and paddles.

Privacy in nature is what guests will experience on this fourth-generation homestead in Golden Lake, Ontario. Guests will find a 2,200-hectare (5,436-acre) conservation area, with 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) of multi-use trails winding through a variegated landscape of oak savannas, pine forests, ponds, wetlands, rocky outcrops, and breathtaking vistas of the lake and the Bonnechere River Valley. These environments, in turn, provide habitats to a variety of wildlife and birdlife, including minks, otters, muskrats, beavers, deer, foxes, dark-eyed juncos, hermit thrushes, turkey vultures, and bald eagles.

In the surrounding Ottawa Valley, guests will find more than two million hectares (six million acres) of natural splendor, encompassing a variety of woodlands, over 900 lakes, and four major river systems, of which the Bonnechere River is one. Before flowing into and out of Golden Lake, the river begins its 145-kilometer (90-mile) journey in Algonquin Provincial Park, which is located about an hour to the east. Boasting 7,654 square kilometers (2,955 square miles) of parkland, more than 2,400 lakes, and 1,200 kilometers (645 miles) of rivers and streams, the park is one of the largest, oldest, and most popular provincial parks in all of Canada. Guests have access to a park pass for free day use.

A public picnic and beach area are located just a few minutes down the road in Deacon. About 26 miles to the east, guests will find the Bonnechere Caves, the limestone walls of which are embedded with thousands of fossils dating back millions of years. At the Bonnchere Museum, guests will find even more fossils from the Ordovician period of the Paleozoic era. Other museums in the area include the Polish Kashub Heritage Museum in Wilno, the Algonquin Way Cultural Centre in Golden Lake, and the Heritage Center and Pioneer Village in Pembroke. Guests will find a few dining options in the nearby towns of Golden Lake, Killaloe, and Barry's Bay.

Around the cabin site, guests can go hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing on 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) of forested trails. One of the trails leads down to a quiet forest lake, where guests can go canoeing, swimming, and fishing for largemouth bass, northern pike, perch, and a variety of other fish. Hiking trails wind through different ecosystems and allow guests to experience what each has to offer with a variety of wildlife, geological features, and views.

Guests can go rafting and kayaking on the Bonnechere River, the Ottawa River, and the Madawaska River, with trips available through local outfitters such as RiverRun Rafting, Barry's Bay Outfitters, and the Madawaska Kanu Centre.

More opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors can be found at Algonquin Provincial Park, where guests will find a variety of trails for hiking and biking. Both the park and the cabin's surroundings provide prime spots for bird watching, with over 260 species of birds having had recorded sightings in the park.

To see fossils from the Ordovician period of the Paleozoic era, guests can visit the nearby Bonnechere Caves and Bonnechere Museum.

For golfing, guests can hit the links at the Homestead at Wolf Ridge Golf Course and the Whitetail Golf Club. For dining, guests will find options in the nearby towns of Golden Lake, Killaloe, and Barry's Bay.
