This gorgeous safari tent is perched over the waters of the Mississippi River near Perth, Ontario, and it makes for a unique and relaxing glamping getaway for two guests. Once at the property, guests will cross a walking bridge to the one-acre island where the sights and sounds of nature blend in absolute harmony.

There is a king-size bed complete with quality linens, plush pillows, and an ultra-comfortable mattress, and guests will be able to fall asleep to the gentle sound of the water below. The glamping tent also comes with a solar-powered water pump, lights, and all necessary electrical needs, as well as free Wi-Fi. However, the property is in the country and so there are no unlimited plans, the hosts ask guests please adjust accordingly, (no movie streaming please) and movies and podcasts are downloaded before guests arrive. The hosts have put a small heater in the tent for those chilly nights.

Outside, glampers can swim in the beautiful, crystal-clear water right at their doorstep, and they can make use of the outdoor kitchen, which comes with a small fridge and a stove so they can prepare snacks and meals. Guests will have the entire island to themselves.

Location + Surroundings

This rustic, handmade tree house is built right over the rapids of the mighty Mississippi River in Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. The glamping tree house is nestled among oaks and cedars, 22 feet off of the ground at its highest point. Due to its high concentration in maple trees, Lanark County is also called the 'Maple Syrup Capital of Ontario'. The county is home to over 100 lakes, rivers, and waterfalls, and the coastline is speckled with coves and pristine beaches. The region is a paradise for outdoor fans who like to bike, hike, and engage in adventurous water sports activities, such as rafting, canoeing, kayaking, and more.

Activities

  • Fishing
  • Kayaking/Canoeing
  • Wildlife watching

Since the tree house is on the water, most of the activities are aquatic, such as rafting, canoeing, swimming, fishing, and kayaking, etc. The region also offers great trekking trails to explore by bike or foot. There is lots of room for lounging in and around the rapids and it is easy to sit right in the rapids.
