Unique Wooden Yurt with Roof Window at Luxury Campsite on Island of Bornholm
Yurt in Gudhjem, Region Hovedstaden
4 guests
Stay at this unique wooden yurt with a roof window at this luxury campsite on the Island of Bornholm in Denmark, which can accommodate up to four guests. The yurt, which was handcrafted in Somerset, England, is a "bent wood," or oba yurt. This type of yurt is typically from Turkestan, and its roof poles, crown, and trellis walls are made from ash wood, while the door is solid oak, and the covers are made from heavy-duty canvas.
Upon arrival, guests can expect to find in the accommodation: candles, lanterns, linens and towels, blankets, and a generous basket of firewood, kindling, and fire starters. The yurt is 16 feet in diameter and contains a double bed, two single futon beds (which turn into comfy chairs during the day), and a chest to store clothes and bedding. In addition, there is a wood-burning stove to keep guests warm on cool evenings, which can also be used to boil a kettle. Outside, glampers will find a wooden table and benches with a fire ring for campfires and barbecues.
Additionally, guests will always have access to the communal "atelier" in the farmhouse, which will be shared with guests of the other bell tent, as well as the yurt that are on the property. This communal space has a fully equipped kitchen (with a fridge-freezer), a dining table, power points for charging electronics, free, high-speed Wi-Fi, and two new bathrooms with solar-heated showers, heated flooring, and a washing machine.
There are two hectares of grounds to enjoy, including lawn, meadow, and woodland, even the site's own river. There are many spaces to enjoy, to hang out, and to have campfires and barbecues. Guests will frequently see hares, deer, hedgehogs, and abundant birdlife in the garden. Swallows nest around the house and nightingales are heard singing from May to August. The night sky is stunning, and glampers are always welcome to borrow one of the hosts' telescopes.

The 200-kilometer coastline has white sandy beaches and sand dunes in the south, proper cliffs in the north and west, and a rocky coast of coves, headlands, and little sandy bays in the east.
25% of the interior is covered with increasingly wild plantation forests, heathland and natural woodlands – with lots of great (and surprisingly adventurous) walks. Most of the farmland is cultivable land with just a few herds of organic cattle, but is never monotonous with numerous small farm woodlands, streams, and rocky outcrops. There are also wild wetlands hidden in the interior, home to bugling cranes from spring to autumn and equipped with birdwatching towers to provide great views of the wildlife and open landscapes.
