Montañita

Known as a hippie beach destination, Montañita stands today as one of Ecuador’s top surfing locations. Though a quaint town, Montañita offers plenty of modern conveniences, including fancy restaurants, resort hotels, and a vibrant nightlife. Home to some of the most challenging waves in Latin America, Montañita is a great place for experienced surfers to visit, with waves rising as high as 6 ½ feet. There are many hills outside of the town, making them ideal for hiking and biking adventures, and if you’re adventurous enough, you’ll stumble upon breathtaking summit points. The temperature rarely falls below 70 degrees Fahrenheit too, so expect to enjoy outdoor activities year-round in the town. All this put together makes Montañita one of the coolest villages to visit in Ecuador.
