This historic cabin rental is located on a strawberry farm near Charleston, West Virginia, and can accommodate two guests for a getaway to the countryside. Built from hand-cut sandstone that was mined and transported to the farm by the Amish 130 years ago, the cabin was recently renovated to bring it into the modern age while retaining its historic charm. Inside, guests will find one bedroom and one full bathroom.

The bedroom is furnished with a four-poster full-size bed, a table for two, and a rocking chair surrounded by wood-paneled walls, creating a cozy, rustic space in which to rest and relax. In the bathroom, guests will find a toilet, a sink, and a combination bathtub/shower. Linens, towels, and handmade soaps are provided.

Other amenities include Wi-Fi, air conditioning, ironing equipment and a hairdryer. A propane barbecue grill, a cooler, and bicycles can be borrowed upon request. Guests will enjoy a hot homemade breakfast each morning of their stay.

Around the property, guests will find a play structure, a parking area, a rustic outhouse, two fields of strawberries, a century-old barn that houses friendly ducks and chickens, and a country road that leads to a cave.

At the farm, guests can visit the friendly ducks and chickens that live in the farm's historic barn and pick strawberries during the harvesting season, which runs from May to early June. They can also go on a walk or borrow a bike to ride down the wildflower-lined country road that leads from the farm to a cave they can explore.

Heading down to Clendenin, guests will find a riverside trail for hiking and biking along the Elk River, which provides opportunities for kayaking, canoeing, floating, and fishing. Kayak and canoe rentals are available from Higgs Elk River Adventures, which also offers shuttle services and guided floating and fishing trips.

For more hiking, guests can visit the Wallback Wildlife Management Area, where they can also enjoy birdwatching in an Audubon Society-designed Important Bird Area. More trails for hiking and biking can be found by the Chestnut Ridge Winery in the historic town of Spencer, providing an opportunity to combine wine tasting with the enjoyment of the great outdoors. Spencer also offers opportunities for antique shopping.
