Skiers and snowboarders will want to bring along the gear and head to Winter Park Ski Resort, Devil's Thumb Ranch, Berthoud Pass, or Ski Granby Ranch for downhill and cross-country skiing and snowboarding. Other winter activities include ice fishing, ice skating, and sleigh rides. During the warm months, many of these ski trails turn into mountain biking and hiking trails. One of the most popular biking trails is Trestle Bike Park. A visit to the hot springs in nearby Hot Sulphur Springs is a welcome treat after a day of activity.
Lakes, rivers, and forests in Rocky Mountain National Park and Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests provide guests with activities such as hiking, hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and birdwatching. Another popular summer attraction is Grand Lake. Boating, fishing, and watersports are all the rage on this fun-filled lake. Visitors can rent paddleboards and boats at Grand Lake Marina.
Thrill seekers will want to add a Colorado River whitewater rafting excursion to their to-do list. There is also the option of snowmobile tours or an off-road vehicle tour of the Continental Divide and Corona Pass. Hiking along the Continental Divide to Parry Peak is another great way to view stunning mountain scenery.
Fans of history and the Old West will enjoy visiting the 1870 Cozens Ranch Museum, which was a former stagecoach stop and post office. The Heritage Park Museum, the Kauffman House Museum, and the Moffat Road Railroad Museum are more great choices for the history lovers in the group.
