Newly expanded and renovated cabin that accommodates 5 people. (More photos coming soon.) Undergoing an extreme makeover October 2023 - April 2024 that includes a bedroom/bathroom addition, all new windows and skylights, a new full kitchen, a rebuilt and enlarged deck, electricity and running water.

Please note that all guest reviews through 2023 apply to the original cabin (purchased in 2006 by the current owners) and not the renovated one.

The cabin rents by the week during summer (June to mid-September). Exceptions may apply, especially with calendar openings close to your arrival date. We have a 3-night minimum off season (Spring and Fall).

This small (600 square feet) dog-friendly cabin on Six Mile Lake, Maine, is the perfect spot to enjoy a peaceful getaway in the woods and on the water. With two acres of land and dense woodland surrounding the rental, dogs will love exploring the property.

The cabin has 250 feet of private lakefrontage for guests to enjoy in almost total seclusion. The water is very clean and good for swimming.

Birds seen from the property include Common Loons, Ospreys, Bald Eagles, Great Blue Herons, Spotted Sandpipers, Pileated Woodpeckers, Downy Woodpeckers, Black-capped Chickadees, Red-breasted Nuthatches, Dark-eyed Juncos, Winter Wrens, Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, several kinds of warblers, and more.

The renovated cabin has a bedroom with a queen-size bed, with an adjacent full bathroom that includes a large, well-lit 30x60 inch shower plus a washer and dryer. The kitchen (expected to be finished by April 30) is well-equipped and will include a dishwasher, medium-capacity fridge, gas stove/range, electric coffee maker, and microwave. Outside, there is a large deck set back from the water with 2 rustic, wooden Adirondack (lounge-type) chairs and a table overlooking the lake that will seat 4 people. Guests can sit out and enjoy the views, or head to the second deck that is on the water's edge. A canoe is provided along with plenty of dry firewood for the outdoor fire pit.

Our end of the lake is undeveloped, and we have just one immediate neighbor whose cabin is well-concealed from ours by trees. There is no light pollution, and the star gazing is outstanding. To help preserve this rare dark sky atmosphere, we have chosen not to install any exterior electric lights. (Please bring flashlights or headlamps for outdoor use, and plan on arriving during daylight hours if possible.)

Note for spring bookings: Black flies can be a problem in the woods of Maine during May, so please be aware if you are booking then.
