Wauchula

Wauchula is the perfect place to come to if you're looking for a truly relaxing and tranquil destination for your next vacation. Its tiny Main Street has only a gift store, Italian restaurant, a coffee place, and an ice cream shop - but that doesn't mean that there isn't plenty to see and do here. Surrounded by orange groves, this is a fantastic region to explore by bike or on foot. There is the historic Peace River, where you can canoe or hunt for fossils. And of course, Soloman's Castle, an extraordinary and odd three-story, 12,000-square foot castle made of old aluminum newspaper printing plates, a replica of the Alamo, and a huge 16th-century galleon. It's also close to Highlands Hammock State Park and Lake Istopkoga.
