Ubicación + Alrededores

Situated in north-central New Mexico, Taos is a mountain town in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, whose roots go all the way back to the early 1600s when the town was colonized by Spanish conquistadors. Later on, the town became known as an art colony, and today’s visitors can see the homes and studios of many artists who worked on their craft here, preserved as historic sites. Average low temperatures hover around the low 40's in winter, while in summertime, Taos experiences average highs of just shy of 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Taos is less than one and a half hours, or just under 70 miles, from Santa Fe, the capital city of New Mexico. On a day trip to Santa Fe, glampers should check out the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, the Museum of National Folk Art, the San Miguel Mission, the Santa Fe Historic District, and many other notable sites and attractions in the oldest capital city in the U.S. Leer más

  • Whitewater rafting
  • Winter sports

In summer, glampers will find themselves mountain biking, hiking, fly fishing, horseback riding, and llama trekking, the last of which entails being accompanied by a llama for hikes of all distances. Come wintertime, Taos is a popular skiing destination, principally due to Wheeler Peak, a 13,161-foot mountain and the highest point in the whole state. Glampers can also head to Taos Ski Valley, Red River Ski Area, and Angel Fire Ski Area to continue skiing. Snowmobiling, snowshoeing, ice skating, and ice fishing are also practiced in the colder months in Taos.
