Located near Florence, Alabama, this barn site provides a unique opportunity to enjoy an authentic experience of rural life on a farm. Rather than just being a site that looks like a barn or is situated next to a barn, it is literally inside an actual barn on an actual farm. Outside, guests will find themselves surrounded by farm buildings, pastures, horses, and peaceful countryside.

The site is near the historic, 444-mile Natchez Trace Foot Trail and Trail of Tears. The surrounding area contains numerous other historic and natural outdoor attractions including Rock Spring, Colbert Ferry Park, Lauderdale, Buzzard Roost Spring, Freedom Hills Overlook, Bear Creek, and Cane Creek Canyon Nature Preserve. Bankhead National Forest is about an hour and 15 minutes away.

Although it is in a rural location, there are cities and towns not far away. It is about 20 minutes away from the downtown historic district of Florence and Tuscumbia, an hour and 40 minutes from Huntsville, two and a half hours from Memphis and Nashville, and four hours from Atlanta. The Northwest Alabama Regional Airport is only half an hour away and the Huntsville International Airport is an hour and a half away.

There are ample opportunities for hiking, biking, picnicking, and enjoying the outdoors in the surrounding area. The 444-mile Natchez Trace Foot Trail and Trail of Tears are just a few miles away and are great for both hiking and biking. Nearby, along the trail, guests can stop to picnic at the Colbert Ferry Park and Lauderdale picnic area along the Tennessee River. They can also hike at Rock Spring, where, in the autumn, they can see hundreds of ruby throated hummingbirds passing by in migration.

A little farther afield along the trail, guests will find additional outdoor attractions including Buzzard Roost Spring, Freedom Hills Overlook, Bear Creek, Sunken Trace, Cypress Creek, and Glenrock Branch. South of Tuscumbia, Cane Creek Canyon Nature Preserve offers even more trails for guests. About an hour and a half to the southwest, they can explore over 180,000 acres of creeks, waterfalls, and woods at Bankhead National Forest where they can go hiking, boating, fishing, swimming, canoeing, hunting, and horseback riding. Closer by, they can also go boating and fishing at Wheeler Lake, Pickwick Lake, and Wilson Lake as well as the above mentioned, Colbert Ferry Park.

Places of historical and cultural interest in the area include the Meriwether Lewis Death and Burial Site, Hellen Keller’s Birth Site, the Wichapi Commemorative Stone Wall, the Gordon House and Duck River Ferry Site, and the Indian Mound and Museum of Florence. Civil War sites and battlefields can be found in the nearby Tennessee and Mississippi portions of the Natchez Trace.

For dining, guests can go right down the road to the Rhodesville Cafe. In Florence, they will find many restaurants offering a variety of cuisines, including Southern, Asian, Mexican, and Italian. There, they will also find a range of cultural and entertainment options, including the Shoals Community Theater, the Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts, and various art galleries.
