Crockett

Crockett, Texas is named after David Crockett, who reportedly camped there on his way to the Alamo. It’s one of the oldest cities in Texas with lots of history ranging from the timber industry to establishing a school for black girls in the late 18th century. Around the town, terrain is hilly and contains forests of loblolly pine or pecan trees. The Davy Crockett National Forest is to the east, which provides woodlands for hiking and horseback riding, and streams for swimming and fishing. To the north is Houston County Lake where visitors can picnic along the shores or go boating on the lake.
