Oakura is a close-knit coastal village where locals boast of family-friendly beaches, great surfing, and eclectic shops selling beautiful creations from jewelers, artists, and craftspeople. Common activities here include swimming, surfing, picnics at the beach, and practically all sorts of water sports. For a drier set of things to do, travelers can try their hand in making fabulous jewelry pieces in shops that offer courses on how to make them. They can also head to the Ratapihipihi Reserve and spend a couple of hours hiking a subtropical rainforest.

Guests have close access to Egmont National Park, where they can spend their days skiing and snowboarding down the slopes of Mount Taranaki in the winter season, or go hiking along the park's various trails in the warmer months. For even more fun, fly-fishing is a must-try experience, especially with the guidance of a professional. Guests prefer staying inside the glamping property can also enjoy the nearby swimming hole inside the property.
