The cottage is waterfront so guests will have easy access to the bay for kayaking, boating, fishing, and sailing. They can walk down the famous Akaroa Harbour for cruise tours, where they can watch pods of dolphins swim by in the waves.
Guests can head into Akaroa Village for shops and restaurants. They can taste wine at nearby vineyards, and tour the mosaic gardens at the eclectic Giants House. Nature lovers can visit the Hinewai Reserve for hiking and bushwalking on several trails cutting through rugged mountains, rolling hills, and lush forest. These trails are excellent places for photography, birdwatching, and viewing wildlife.
Guests can take day trips to Christchurch, the largest city on South Island. They can visit art galleries and botanical gardens, tour historic churches and museums, or ride bikes along the Avon River.
