Authentic Yurt Rentals with Sauna near Lake Issyk Kul in Karakol, Kyrgyzstan

Yurt in Karakol, Issyk Kul Region

4 guests

There are eight separate yurts on this glamping site, two of which are lovingly furnished with local handicrafts, and one with its own fireplace. The rustic beds are single, and dressed with embroidered white bed linen. Glampers are invited to make the most of the on-site sauna, laundry, and outside campfire. Guests can take in the clean mountainous air in the secluded fruit tree garden, and all rooms are equipped with a safe and cloak room.

Each yurt also has a TV which is 25 inches in diameter. Although these accommodations have an authentic ambiance, there is no shortage of hot running water, and there are six showers and ten clean footprint toilets at the site (which are not located within the yurts). Each accommodation can accommodate six - eight people, making the site ideal for group travel or families. The site is a very small distance from the center of Karakol, however this yurt camp feels secluded and remote because of its verdant surroundings.

This unique glamping site has its own library and fruit tree garden. There is a 24-hour security service and reception desk to ensure the best standard of customer service, and even a repair shop on site.

Breakfast tables in the communal dining area are laid out with honey and jam (and local dried fruits out of season), and the ‘Yurt café’ is run by the best chef in Karagol, dedicated to serving traditional Kyrgyz dishes. All of the food is made from local and organic ingredients, and always prepared from scratch. There is a place to build outdoor campfires, and even a radio communications station!

Karakol, Issyk Kul Region

Detailed location provided after booking

Scenic views
This rustic Yurt camp is situated just 100 meters from the main square in the town of Karakol, in Toktogula, Kyrgyzstan. The town of Karakol is nestled between the snow-capped Tian Shan mountains, and close to Lake Issyk Kul. Although the town is the capital of the Issyk Kul Oblast province, it remains relatively undiscovered, and has been described as a ’true gem in the rough’.

The Yurt site itself holds great potential for outdoor activities, and is surrounded by grassland, trees, and traditional Russian homes. There is much to be discovered in the town itself (cathedral, zoo, and unusual wooden mosque constructed without the use of nails), however the main attraction of the area is the stunning surroundings, mountain ridges and lakes.

Other events and activities guests experience are horseback shows, goat polo, and wrestling (host requires seven days of notice to organize this). The more adventurous glampers can even take a helicopter trip to the glaciers. However, for those who seek rest and relaxation, there are hot springs nearby.
