Scenic views
The mouth of the Bojana River is a protected nature reserve that is home to approximately 143 species of fish and 300 species of birds, and its water nourishes the lush subtropic and Mediterranean vegetation of the surrounding countryside. The eastern side of the river lies in Albania and is known as the Buna River-Velipoja Protected Landscape, which encompasses 56,900 acres of riverine and wetland environments. The latter provide habitats to threatened species such as pygmy cormorants, golden jackals, Eurasian otters.
On the other side of the river, along the coast of the Adriatic, guests will find a beach composed of fine-grain sand that extends more than seven miles westward. The beach continues on the southern end of Ada Bojana for two miles, extending eastward to the Albanian border. In addition to providing wind and wave conditions that are ideal for kitesurfing and windsurfing, the beach is dotted with beachside bars and restaurants, making it equally well-suited for recreation and relaxation.
About 27 miles to the north, guests will find the source of the Buna River, Lake Shkodër (also transliterated into English as Shkodra, Scodra, and Skadar), on the southeastern shores of which lies the Albanian city of Shkodër. About a 22-minute drive to the northwest, guests will arrive at the Montenegrin town of Ulcinj, where they will find shops, restaurants, and a market offering locally-made products and food items such as olives and traditional pastries. The old town of Ulcinj contains historic buildings that date all the way back to the 14th century and bears traces of five historical periods: the Illyrian, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Baroque, and the Ottoman era.
The cabin is about two hours from the Montenegrin towns of Tivat and Podgorica, where the nearest international airports are located.
