A short walk away is the Tauherenikau Racecourse, which houses a wide array of events from horse racing to jet sprinting to concerts. About a mile to the west is the town of Featherston, which has plenty of local shops and restaurants for guests to get a flavor of New Zealand living. This area of New Zealand is known for producing great wines, so guests can take tours of some of the world-renowned vineyards and wineries in the region. Lake Wairarapa lies to the south and is known around the country for being a great fishing and wildlife spotting area. It is the third largest lake in New Zealand and has been used for years by the Maori for hunting and fishing. On location, there is a pool and hot tub for residents to relax in after a long day exploring the region around them.
