The Waipoua Kauri Forest is home to the largest kauri trees in New Zealand. Perhaps the most popular attractions of the forest are the giant trees named Tane Mahuta, Te Matua Ngahere, Four Sisters, and the Yakas Tree. The lookout track leads to the historic fire tower that overlooks the forest and there are several other walks available as well. The Footprints Waipoua tours are not to be missed!
The beaches of Opononi and Omapere and the Hokianga Harbour offer beautiful and unique attractions as well as recreational activities. Kicking back on the beach, going for a dip in the warm waters, or exploring the tremendous sand dunes are all ways to take advantage of what nature has to offer. Kayaking, fishing, and sand boarding are also popular activities in and around the area.
