Just to the north of Martinborough, the Ruamahanga River and Huangarua River fork off from each other, the former providing opportunities for fishing, the latter for canoeing in a scenic setting. To explore the countryside on land, guests can take a stroll on the Rapaki Walk, a one-to-two-hour loop trail that takes guests through farmland and provides breathtaking views of the Wairarapa Valley and the area's vineyards.
Scattered around Martinborough, guests will find more than 20 vineyards that can be reached by foot or bike from the town's main square, which is about an eight-minute drive away from the cottage.
