Owhango

Though Owhango is known as a milling town, travelers visiting it will find much natural beauty surrounding it. Travelers can visit the nearby Ohinetonga Reserve, a natural gem of a forest with scenic trails. Nature-lovers will enjoy it especially thanks to the rare plants and native birds located there. Follow the Ohinetonga loop track upstream, and you’ll stumble upon Whakapapa River, a great spot for swimming and whitewater rafting activities. The reserve is also home to Tongariro Forest, home to exotic tree ferns, waterfalls, and caves worth hiking through. Though a small town, Owhango still offers hearty attractions like the Marahua Blueberry Farm; a place definitely worth visiting for fresh berries.
