Raetihi

A town in central North Island, Raetihi is a great place to visit if you like humble town culture and a scenic outdoors. It’s home to the oldest theater in the Southern Hemisphere—the Theatre Royal. The theatre hosts annual Waimarino Art Awards and showcases the work of local artists. Visit the nearby Waimarino Forest, and you’ll encounter wild kiwi in their natural habitat. The forest is also a great location for hiking activities and fly-fishing. Take to Waimarino River, and you’ll have yourself a secluded spot for kayaking and paddleboarding. The town offers plenty of other attractions, like Mellonsfolly Ranch and its western cowboy nostalgia, so be sure to visit the town. You’ll make plenty of memories with locals.
