Waipu Cove

Waipu Cove is home to one of the best beaches in North Island. Waipu Cove Beach offers some of the best waters for surfing, rocks to climb, and a route to the clandestine Pancake Rocks, the Waipu Coastal Trail. The 1.5-hour walk goes from Waipu Cove to Langs Beach, offering amazing views of the coast. You should certainly indulge in the Waipu Caves Walk that introduces you to limestone caves filled with glowworms that light up stalagmites like Christmas decorations. Be sure to visit Waipu Museum, where you’ll learn about the town’s Scottish heritage and one of the biggest migrations in New Zealand’s history. Whether you’re there to enjoy the sandy coasts and vibrant waters or learn about NZ’s history, you’ll certainly enjoy your stay in Waipu.
