Remote Equipped Dome with Spectacular Lake and Mountain Views in South Island

Dome in Ben Lomond, South Island
4 guests • 1 bedroom • 2 beds
This dome is our alternative option for couples when Seffers Dome is unavailable. The secret? It's one of our Moonlight Domes! When you book the dome, you will have the same experience as Seffers, simply the site is home to a second dome which will remain locked during your stay.
Overlooking Moke Lake, surrounded by panoramic breathtaking views, it's the ultimate glamping spot! Our unique domes are spacious and luxurious and the views are truly unbeatable. Where else can you stay with not another person in sight and views this good?
Nestled about 20 to 25 minutes from downtown Queenstown, this unique retreat sits on a secluded, elevated site accessible via a gravel farm road. Here, you’ll experience the thrill of being off the grid while enjoying the comfort of a queen-size bed.
Whether you’re dining indoors or outside, you’ll enjoy stunning views no matter the weather. Stay up late and star gaze out huge window from bed. With zero light pollution the view of the milky way is unbelievable on clear nights. You have to see it to believe it!
Each dome includes hardwood floors, a cozy queen-size bed, luxurious linen, and furnishings making it a 'dome away from home.' Powered by solar panels, our system provides phone charging and ambient indoor lighting. The 'Glampa Campa' trailer is fully equipped with a hot shower, sink and flushing cassette toilet. The kitchenette features gas hob, prep sink, and a gas BBQ for all your cooking needs equipped with all cutlery, and crockery for your culinary needs!
Our domes are thoughtfully outfitted with plenty of blankets, extra duvets in cooler months and hot water bottles to keep you warm on chilly nights. Please note - there is NO phone signal or wifi so you can enjoy a true digital detox! We have a range of games and books for you to enjoy and what better way to spend time with loved ones without distractions.
Parking is along a gravel path, with a short 3 - 5 minute uphill walk to the domes. We recommend bringing backpacks rather than suitcases for ease. You’ll have direct access to a scenic lake walk and a swimming spot, or take the leisurely 1.5-hour trail around the lake.
You'll receive detailed directions and instructions ahead of your stay. A welcome book with everything you need to know will await you upon arrival. If you prefer a guided check-in, just let us know; otherwise, we’ll leave you to unwind in peace!
Location:
Nestled on a working sheep farm, the domes provide a private space, though curious sheep may occasionally wander by. Located 20 - 25 minutes from central Queenstown by car, we can also arrange pickup and drop-off for an additional fee if you’re without transportation.
Bathroom: Features a hot shower, flushing cassette toilet (not a mixtape!), sink, and complimentary toiletries and towels.
Kitchen: Includes gas hobs, a sink, kitchen utensils, crockery, and glasses—all the essentials for cooking up a meal that’ll make you forget you’re “roughing it.”
Planning a wedding? Contact us before booking—we’d be thrilled to help make your special day unforgettable, with a sheep farm backdrop that even city dwellers find romantic.
The entire dome area is yours to explore, with scenic walks in every direction and the occasional sheep sighting on our 3,500-hectare Merino sheep farm.
Parking: Free and located on private land. The walk to the dome is uphill, so leave the stilettos at home and wear sensible shoes.
Moke Lake, a local gem, offers a summer swimming spot and a 1.5-hour loop track. As public transport isn’t available, we suggest hiring a 4WD car or pre-booking a taxi.
A note on connectivity: Expect no Wi-Fi or phone signal—just pure nature and a few friendly sheep.
Lastly, the lakefront is a 10-minute walk away, and the car park is just a 3-minute stroll from the dome—a little warm-up for your adventures!
