Piura

Based in the northern parts of Peru, Piura offers a vibrant region encompassed by a coastline, desert, dry forests, and mountains with cloud forests. Sunny almost year-round, the city of Piura is essentially a resort location. You’ll find spas, beaches, and Cabo Blanco, a village famed for being visited by Ernest Hemingway. There are also lakes worth visiting near Piura, including Las Huaringas, a lush body of water backdropped by cloudy valleys. Then there’s the Sechura desert. Known as the driest region in Peru, The Sechura desert is unlike typical deserts. It’s subject to constant flooding from rivers and storms driven by the Pacific coast, making it quite the fertile location for agriculture. So if you’re looking to get a few sunny beach days and quiet days in the desert, Piura might be for you.
