The lakes of Lake Manapouri and Lake Te Anau are silent and serene, with clear water reflecting even clearer skies. Lake Manapouri is renowned as being one of the most beautiful lakes in New Zealand, while Lake Te Anau is the second largest. So the beaches next to these stunning lakes are a little different to what you would usually imagine. Things are much calmer, and an afternoon can easily be whiled away lazing in the cool, clear water, as well as enjoying other water-based activities such as fishing, swimming, or kayaking. The rugged coastline of Fiordland National Park allows you to enjoy remote islands and splendid views. The South Coast Track is a great trail that allows you to hike all along the edge of the park, with supreme views over the sea and islands.
