Digital Nomads: Working Remotely in Scotland
We were 2 adults and 2 kids wanting to get away from the city for a relaxing weekend. Elizabeth was so friendly and hospitable, and we totally fell in love with her farm. My kiddos enjoyed feeding the animals (chickens, geese, sheep and a llama), picking the vegetables and hanging out in the hammock and hot tub. The cottage was clean and just the right size for our family. We had no internet or cell reception, which was kind of amazing. We even found a small but lovely redwood grove nearby. While this place does seem remote, the town of Occidental is just a short drive away. We even got to buy a dozen eggs laid from the chickens we had fed! We would definitely come back.
This place waa unbelievable. We envisioned something in our heads before we got there and then was blown away. This place was tucked away near a corn field and wouldnt even know it existed with all the trees around it. We walked into a decked out cabin, which was made up for old refurbished items for buildings. Our most generous host walked us thru the history of pieces that built this cabin. The shower was made out of old school chalk boards for walls, so unique. Plenty of creature comforts, suchs as internet and dish, but also anything you would have in your own home. We ran into and emergency and needed something printed out and our host bailed us out, like we were family. Thank you to her. We cant express enough how impressed we were. We recommend to anyone goung to Cedar Point or Put in Bay region. Sincerely the 3 marketeers from NY, Brynn, Mary Ann and Scott.
Linda and Sam were the ideal hosts. They were super responsive, very accommodating, and a pleasure to work with. The Riverhouse Reef and Grill restaurant was only steps away and the food was absolutely delicious (I highly recommend the lobster potpie). We had dinner there every night. The live music was great and watching the sunset from the dock was heavenly. Mike from the bait shop was so nice. It was Veterans Weekend during our stay and he had amazing war stories to share with us when we went there for our morning coffee which is complimentary. Now onto the houseboat. We almost want to keep it a secret so it's always available when we want it, but it is just too special not to share it. Visually, it is spectacular. The way Sam and Linda converted the floating church to an elegant houseboat was brilliant. It has every modern convenience needed...full kitchen, 2 bathrooms, wood floors, internet, large screen TV and more. Having breakfast every morning on the deck became one of our favorite routines. We had another couple join us on our last night and they were perfectly comfortable sleeping in the loft upstairs. The houseboat is a staple in the Marina so other Marina guests were quick to share fun stories about the former floating chapel. Our experience was spectacular from beginning to end and we would highly recommend this amazing houseboat. Thank you Linda and Sam!!!
