New Braunfels in the Texas Hill Country has a German heritage that dates back to its founding by Prince Carl of Solms-Braunfels in 1845. He brought in hundreds of German to settle there and intended to create a German feudal state. Luckily things settled down and now glampers can enjoy the German heritage and Texas hospitality of this lovely city. The town holds a Wurstfest, a German-style sausage festival, every November and a Wassailfest in December. A cold spring runs through the city and glampers can float in tubes for miles down the Guadalupe and Comal rivers. The city is the site of the original water park, the Schlitterbahn WaterPark Resort. Glamping options include tree houses, log cabins, cottages, tipis, tented cabins, safari tents, and nature lodges.
