I cannot say enough EXCELLENT things about this trip we had here! We stayed one night as part of our road trip up to Yellowstone, and even though we were on the road for 9 days, this one night at the Tipi Camp ended up being my family's favorite night. My husband said it was the best night's sleep he's had in a long time. The sounds of the river and the extremely comfortable mattress lulled him to sleep immediately. My kids loved sleeping on the futon and loved experiencing a new kind of camping trip. For me, having the propane heater keep us warm throughout the chilly May night (I think it got down to the upper-40s overnight) was just what I needed to stay comfortable. I also was appreciative of the very clean full-restrooms and showers by the check-in area (which is a long-road, quick drive from the Tipi-lodging, but easy enough). There are port-a-potties by the Tipis themselves. After we checked in, we made a quick trip to Cody (about 10 minutes away) for dinner groceries and quick supplies. We were able to grill steak and do foil-wrapped potatoes on the camp grill for dinner (yum!!). There was also a community campfire available for roasting marshmallows and hot dogs or just for staying warm and star-gazing. There are so many highlights: clean, comfortable, warm Tipis; friendly, wonderful hosts/staff (seriously: from check-in to check-out, this place has its procedures down! My kids LOVED their 4-wheeler ride down to the Tipis with the guide who got us all settled in - he was so grandfatherly to them, and my kids felt extra special); and a GORGEOUS view of the river, bluffs, and Wyoming sky. This was an AWESOME alternative to actual camping, which we were not equipped to do. Glamping at its best!! It's not a hotel, but I would hope people would know that if they are thinking about staying here. If you want something a little different - but still very comfortable! - this is a great option. Quick Tips: take a headlamp (it's nice to have your hands free if you need to use the port-a-potties at night); take your own lantern/bright flashlight (they do provide some in the tipis, but I love having extra light as a personal preference and found that my own two LED lanterns I packed served this purpose well); and take some basic camping supplies. Even though camping was not our goal on this road trip, I did pack a tiny camp-pot for boiling water, some coffee packets, some oatmeal packets, and aluminum foil. These items don't take much space, and having coffee and oatmeal in the morning really is a lifesaver. This single night of our 9-day road trip was the highlight that my family will remember forever: the night we stayed in a Tipi by the river under the stars!

We stayed in a luxury tent for one evening and the experience was just lovely. We regretted not booking a longer stay. Upon arrival, we had easy check-in directions posted for us, and it took us no time to get settled in. We slept in a luxury tent, which was provided with a fire ring, bed, flashlight, lantern, pot belly stove (for those cold winter evenings), towels. tinder, and firewood. Although we could not bring food into our tent, it was okay because there was a kitchen located at the lodge, which was a 2 minute walk away. The same goes for bathrooms; there weren't bathrooms located in the tent, but there were bathrooms on the main property which were also a 2-3 minute walk from the tent site. Our host was really gracious in that she gave us full access to the lodge on her property, which I previously mentioned had a kitchen. The lodge was also equipped with a game room, a common eating area, a huge front porch and other amenities. The tent site itself was quiet and relaxing. The views from the property are breathtaking. Overall we had a magical stay.

This was such a cool experience, and one of the highlights from our road trip! Checking in was easy, and the owners are so nice. My husband loved fishing in the small pond they had. The tipi’s being located right on the water was our favorite part. Listening to it at night was so peaceful. The drive down to them is kind of scary though if you were to meet someone coming up the hill. Overall though, it was a 5/5 in all categories!
