Located in the charming village of Valencia de Alcántara near the city of Cáceres in Extremadura, Spain this holiday cottage rental makes for a glorious getaway destination for friends and families looking to disconnect in the Spanish countryside and explore the natural beauty of western Spain. Originally a working farmhouse up until the 1950s until it was lovingly restored, this cottage rental sits in a valley surrounded by forest and hills with the Sierra de San Pedro nearby and the Portuguese border just a 15-minute drive away.

The cottage’s exterior features traditional brickwork, a stone patio, and tile roofing giving it the quintessential Spanish “casa rural” look. The interior displays a homey mixture of the original stonework and modern furnishings. There are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two twin beds. An extra bed or crib can be provided on request, bringing the maximum capacity to five guests. The rooms are spacious and bright with bedside tables, wardrobes, and dressers as well as wonderful views of the valley and the gardens.

The living room showcases the original stonework as well as old farming tools as decorations giving the cottage a cozy, country ambiance. It makes for a great hangout after a day in the mountains as guests can relax in front of the television while keeping warm beside the wood-burning fireplace. The kitchen comes fully equipped with a tiled surface that provides plenty of space for several chefs sharing cooking duties, as well as a stove, microwave, refrigerator, and cooking utensils.

Whether it's a traditional paella or a Spanish stew, home-cooked meals can be enjoyed at the dining table over a bottle of local wine while admiring the views through the large windows. The adjacent bathroom features a charming brick vanity and a tiled walk-in shower complete with towels and basic toiletries. Guests can enjoy toast with traditional Spanish ham and a morning coffee out on the patio while planning the day’s activities. Guests will also enjoy access to the communal swimming pool, the ideal place to cool off from the sun.

The cottages all have access to a large communal swimming pool where guests can cool off in the summer sun, and there is a large lawn with colorful plants and tall trees that provide plenty of shade. There is free on-site parking as well as free Wi-Fi, and each cottage comes with a barbecue grill, a patio with furniture, a fireplace, and air conditioning.
