Ko Pha-ngan Island, Southern Thailand
Detailed location provided after booking
Scenic views
Set in the Surat Thani Province of southern Thailand, this accommodation is located in Baan Tai on the island of Ko Pha-Ngan, which is part of the Chumphon Archipelago in the Gulf of Thailand. Nestled in a secluded, private setting surrounded by the jungles and mountains of Than Sadet Waterfall National Park, the accommodation is situated less than one kilometer from the Than Sadet River and the Than Sadet Waterfall itself, two kilometers from Than Sadet Beach, and six kilometers from Thong Nai Pan Beach.
Exploring the park, guests will find a number of other waterfalls beside the one after which it is named, such as the Deang Waterfall and the Nam Tok Phaeng Waterfall. After visiting the latter, guests can take the Phaeng-Domsila Nature Trail to the nearby Domsila Viewpoint from which they can enjoy far-reaching views of the island and the sea. From there, they can continue ascending to the top of Khao Ra, the highest mountain of Ko Pha-Ngan, which provides breathtaking views extending all the way to the neighboring island of Ko Tao. While exploring the trail that leads up the mountain, guests may spot some of the park's abundant wildlife, which includes monkeys, crocodiles, and boars.
Along the coast of the island, guests will find a series of idyllic bays, inlets, coves, and beaches, of which Than Sadet is among the more secluded. Venturing out into the azure and emerald waters of the Gulf of Thailand, guests can explore the spectacular seascape of Mu Ko Ang Thong National Marine Park, which encompasses 42 small islands composed of rugged limestone hills that are covered in lush forests, riddled with sinkholes and caves, and home to a variety of mammals and birds, including long-tailed macaques, dusky leaf monkeys, smooth-coated otters, white-bellied sea eagles, and Pacific reef herons. In the waters around the northern end of the islands, guests will also find snorkeling and diving sites where they can see coral gardens, hawksbill sea turtles, and yellow-spotted trevallies.
Other highlights of Ko Pha-Ngan include its Buddhist temples, such as Guanyin Temple, Wat Khao Tham, Phu Khao Noi, and Wat Pho. The main town of the island is Thong Sala, which is 25 minutes to the southwest of the accommodation. Here, guests will find a variety of shopping and dining options, as well as a ferry that will take them back and forth to mainland Thailand and the neighboring island of Ko Samui, where Samui Airport, the nearest international airport, is located.
