Littleport, although a small village, has plenty of interesting attractions. The most natural offering in the area is Wicken Fen National Nature Reserve, a vast National Nature Reserve. At Wicken Fen, guests can take a leisurely stroll along the boardwalk and pathways, and also learn about how people lived in the area centuries ago. At The Dragonfly Centre, guests can learn everything there is to know about dragonflies, which are prominent denizens of Wicken Fen.
For those with a taste for history, guests can visit the Ely Cathedral, and The Stained Glass Museum which boasts over 125 stained glass panels serving as a historical representation of this long-standing art form, practiced in England for more than 1300 years. Temporary installations are also held throughout the year in the museum.
The Ely Cathedral is a magnificent piece of architecture with origins in the year AD 672, however, the present building dates back to the year 1083. The interior of the cathedral is warm and inviting, both the interior and exterior, awe-inspiring, with beautiful details at every corner.
At the Ely Market, guests can buy delicious goodies such as artisanal bread, desserts, meats, and cheeses, to bring back to the farm, as well as local handicrafts. The Ely Market is located in the center of the village and is held on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. There is also a special Farmers’ Market every second Saturday of the month.
