The 15th Century village of Mells is full of local treasures and is known for being one the prettiest in Somerset county. Three miles away is Frome, another notable town famous for its weekly and vibrant markets. Somerset is also home to the Roman city of Bath and the cathedral city of Wells, both just 30 minutes away. About an hour-drive away is Stonehenge, as well as the historic city of Salisbury. The bustling city of Bristol can be reached within an hour, and the pleasant and southern coastal towns within two. The village center of Mells provides plenty of activity with shops, cafes, and a traditional pub perfect for conversations over pints of beer. About three miles away is Frome, known for its weekly Wednesday and Saturday markets, as well the vibrant, independent market that falls the first Sunday of every month. Walks around the villages are highly encouraged to fully admire the historical architecture and churches, as well as the magnificent views of the countryside. Fans of shopping should head to Glastonbury—a hippie heaven—or Street, for the shopping village, and the historic city of Wells, which is also famous for its spectacular cathedral.
