Description

This stone cottage is located on an organic farm that overlooks the North Sea from the top of rolling, green hills on South Ronaldsay, Orkney. The holiday cottage is eco-friendly, using renewable energy from wind power, solar power, and geothermal power, as well as up-cycled materials from the farm and other local sources. It can sleep two guests in its snug, double bedroom that features cozy linens, plush pillows, and a comfortable mattress while guests have the use of a chest of drawers and a wardrobe for storage. Throughout the farm cottage’s interior are exposed stone walls that blend beautifully with the warm, homey décor and guests will find it easy to relax in the living area that comes complete with floor-to-ceiling windows that offer phenomenal ocean views. There is a small kitchen area where guests can prepare home-cooked meals and snacks as it features a two-burner stove, a microwave oven, a toaster, a kettle, a refrigerator and a variety of cooking utensils while the dining table beside the large windows provides the perfect setting for an evening glass of wine.

Guests have access to a private bathroom that features a bathtub, a shower, a hand basin, and a toilet as well as fresh towels and a selection of toiletries for extra convenience. Outside, there is a lovingly-restored patio and guests may explore the farm grounds where they will come across a vegetable shop, a conservatory, and a sandy beach just five minutes away.

This small farm produces organic vegetables, strawberries, hens, and eggs. There is a small shop on site where guests can purchase these products and more, and either dried or tinned wholefoods. The site has hot showers, toilets, utilities such as a washing machine and drying line, and an equipped camping kitchen area, all within 150 meters of each other.
