Chippewa Bay

Chippewa Bay is one of the state’s northernmost places, which lies on the banks of the St. Lawrence River, an offshoot of the famous Lake Ontario. It is a popular place to visit due to the number of water-based activities that campers can participate in, as well as the abundance of state parks and forests that surround it. A great place to start when exploring the area is Lonesome Bay State Forest, which has stunning fall colors light up the trees when the weather starts to cool, and where you can go on light hikes through the trees and around the shores of the picturesque Black Lake. Hickory Lake State Forest offers forested hiking paths to follow, and the nearby Thousand Island Park has a range of water sports to be enjoyed.
