  • Location + Surroundings

Situated in the southeastern periphery of the Adirondack region's vast expanse of protected parkland, which encompasses more than 6 million acres of natural splendor, this rental is located within a lakeside resort in Lake George, New York, where it is set on the southwestern shore of the lake from which the village gets its name. Boasting 700 feet of lakefront and nearly 300 feet of beachfront property, the resort is nestled within a woodland setting that provides scenic views of the forested foothills on the other side of the slender, 32-mile-long lake.

In the surrounding region, guests will find an awe-inspiring alpine landscape of mountains, hills, and valleys laced with 30,000 miles of rivers and streams, dotted with 3,000 lakes and ponds, and covered with millions of acres of meadows, fields, and forests full of wildflowers, mosses, lichens, shrubs, and a mixture of coniferous and deciduous trees, such as hemlock, beech, and spruce. From star-nosed moles, flying squirrels, and American minks to bobcats, black bears, and moose, these environments are home to more than 50 species of mammals big and small, along with over 100 species of birds, ranging from Alder flycatchers to yellow-rumped warblers.

It would take a lifetime to explore all of the natural attractions in the area, and the number of options guests can choose from is limited only by how far they are willing to travel. However, even if they wish to remain close to the lake, they will find dozens of trails and nature preserves to explore. For example, Berry Pond Preserve is just an 11-minute drive away to the south. Centered around the active beaver pond from which it derives its name, the preserve comprises 1,436 acres of woods and wetlands, which are threaded with well-marked hiking trails that connect to the Lake George Village Recreation Center Trail System. There are also a number of trails that ascend the mountains that surround the lake, such as Hadley Mountain, Crane Mountain, Buck Mountain, Black Mountain, and Sleeping Beauty Mountain; these trails range from moderate to high levels of difficulty, but they reward their intrepid travelers with breathtaking vistas of the southern Adirondack landscape.

Despite being surrounded by so much pristine natural beauty, the area has plenty to offer in terms of dining, shopping, nightlife, relaxation, culture, and entertainment as well. Guests will find a variety of restaurants, wineries, bars, nightclubs, live music venues, theaters, museums, historical sites, art galleries, shops, regular and miniature golf courses, arcades, and even a Six Flags theme park in and around the walkable village of Lake George and the nearby town of Queensbury. The resort is about an hour from Albany, where guests will find the nearest international airport. Read More
