This sublime region in the heart of the western Catskills offers year-round outdoor recreation for nature enthusiasts and thrill seekers alike. Among of the most popular activities are hiking and walking the network of trails that snake throughout the Catskills. Among these trails is Shavertown Trail that offers a bit of a challenge; however, the view of the Pepacton Reservoir is always rewarding. Avid anglers can cast a line here and reel in the biggest brown trout in the east or they can head to the East Branch of the Delaware River which also provides wonderful trout fishing. Other activities to be enjoyed include canoeing, kayaking, and paddleboarding.
During the winter months, the stunning trails turn into wonderland and attract winter sports enthusiasts. The Catskill Scenic Trail is 26 miles long and sprawls from just north of Roxbury to Bloomville. Here, glampers can strap on their skis and enjoy cross-country skiing while others zip down on a snowmobile. Additionally, these amazing towns offer an eclectic blend of boutiques and art galleries as well as charming restaurants and taverns that burst with local aromas and flavors that keep glampers coming back for more.
