Shokan

Shokan is a small and picturesque hamlet which lies deep within the Catskill Mountains, and on the edge of the serene Ashokan Reservoir. It is a place that many people come to when they are looking for somewhere with a great proximity to the neighboring mountains, especially when with this landscape comes some stunning views and an abundance of outdoor activities. In fact, in the winter months, the nearby Slide Mountain Wilderness boasts some of the best ski slopes in the area, which take on an irrevocable buzz when people flock to the area. The Indian Head Wilderness provides a beautifully unkempt area which can be explored by following the many mountain trails, or by making your own way through the trees.
