Authentic Sioux Tipi by Waterfall in Upstate New York
"My 6 yo son had a blast! Woke up every day saying "I love sleeping in the tipi!""
2020 UPDATE -- We will be delayed this year in getting this tipi ready for booking. The town of Woodstock hired an additional inspector, we believe primarily to deal with the issue of new short term rentals. He decided that the Sioux Tipi was not acceptable as a short term rental. This will cost us time and expense = we are working to resolve it. In the meantime, however, we have another tipi, which is identical and not far from Woodstock. It is also waterfront - it's on a small lake - and will be available in May, as soon as we can set it up. If you send an inquiry [Click “Contact Host” link which is at the bottom of this description] and we can send you information about that Sioux Tipi. Most of the information below applies to both tipis.
This 18-foot pet-friendly Sioux tipi rental is located in the historic town of Woodstock in Upstate New York and makes for an unforgettable glamping destination with family, friends, and canine buddies. The tipi rental has been handcrafted and painted by the artists of Nomadics Tipi Makers in Oregon and offers glampers an authentic tipi experience while providing some home- comforts. The rental comes with a double bed and a foldout sofa bed, sleeping up to four guests, and the place is kept warm thanks to a stone fireplace at its center. There are solar reverse painted lamps to provide lighting and guests will find cooking equipment.
Glampers will have access to Wi-Fi, an outdoor shower and sink. There is a room nearby for guests in the tipi with a fridge, desk, and electricity. This glamping site in New York is pet-friendly, as well as kid and family-friendly. Glampers will need to bring their own towels, washcloths, and bed linens. Quilts are provided.

- 1 Sofa bed
- Private Barbecue
- Linens and pillows
- Fire pit
Infants allowed Under 2 years old
Children allowed 2-12 years old

For glampers who have never stayed in a tipi before, it will be best to visit from mid-May to late September, due to the colder temperatures, especially overnight. Guests who keep the fire going inside the tipi, can be kept warm in the coldest weather. Seasoned firewood is provided. Near the Sioux Tipi is an outhouse, outdoor shower, and sink with hot and cold water. There is also a small fridge and 110 volt electric in a small room not far from the tipi.
The rate for the Sioux Tipi is discounted for stays of more than two nights. Those who wish to request the discounted rate, please enter the dates, then click the "Contact Host" button, and the host can input the lower rate before booking.
Near the road are trash cans for guests' use. Guests are expected to leave everything as clean and orderly as they found it.
A word of caution: The rocks by the river can be extremely slippery, especially when wet, so be careful.
Returning guests have a discount of 10%.
Be kind to the environment and take care of the surroundings.
