At Peace Valley Park, for example, guests can go hiking and biking on 14 miles of trails, birdwatching for the more than 250 species of birds that have been sighted in the park, and fishing, canoeing, and sailing on Lake Galena.
The park is also home to a Special Wildlife Area, which visitors are not allowed to enter, but can observe from atop the Chapman Road bridge. From this vantage point, they may see birds such as ospreys, cormorants, kingfishers, herons, and egrets. For more birdwatching opportunities, guests can visit the 110-acre nature preserve of the Bucks County Audubon Society at Honey Hollow.
More trails for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing can be found at Baldpate Mountain, Tyler State Park, and Nockamixon State Park. At these last two of these parks, guests can also go swimming, fishing, sailing, kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing, and ice skating on Neshaminy Creek and Lake Nockamixon. For canoeing, kayaking, tubing, and rafting on the Delaware River, guests can head to the Bull's Island Recreation Area.
